June 1-5: FINAL UPLOADS FOR SCAVENGER HUNT PICTURES DUE BY MIDNIGHT THURSDAY, JUNE 4TH!! Rough drafts of Prezis due by Wed, June 3rd.
I have changed the end requirements to make it a little easier for you to finalize and a LOT easier for me to tally. Please look at this link: List of 1 credit and 2 credit items
ALSO…to clarify…you need to post your PREZI presentations onto YOUR blog site. If you have not already sent me one, I need a WORKING link to your blog site. Just make a comment to this page. If you do not have one for your group, you’re going to have to make a HARD copy and that will be MUCH more time consuming. If you are still having issues, you need to let me know! All in all, you are all doing a FANTASTIC job!! I cannot wait to see all of the final projects.
PS Your “table of contents” for your presentations can be a post. I have made an example on a new blog site called “Biology Samples” and there is a link under my “Blogroll” on the right of the page here. Click on it to see an example of how to show your final presentations.
REMEMBER!!! YOU MUST DO #S 1 AND 2 BELOW FOR POINTS!!! If you have sent me your blog, you must ALSO upload the biome questions! I will attach them, but it is NOT THE exact copy you received (that’s at school) but it will be VERY close!!
IMMUNITY Challenge for Wednesday, May 27: BEGINS @ 2PM!!!
(IF every group completes this, EVERYONE will get points based on time submitted, BUT SOMEONE will LOSE after the REWARD challenge tomorrow in class…)
1. You MUST register a NEW BLOG SITE and SEND ME THE LINK to either jacquelinesc@leeschools.net or jscurls@comcast.net AND
2. Upload ALL the answers to your BIOME questions (project – all biomes) to ONE post…
Prep for Memorial Day Week (May 25-28):
1. Make your own BLOG site (when you sign in to wordpress, the option to register a blog is below your password and you can start from there.)
2. Make sure you have at LEAST 30 credit points worth of pictures from the Scavenger Hunt assignment in THREE posts. When posting, you MUST tell me who is doing what or I will ASSUME people are not helping and will NOT get credit. Helping to find specimens IS helping, but there are many other things each group member should be doing.
3. Check below for the assignment from last Monday for your two graphs and questions and have them posted.
4. Check out www.prezi.com AND GO THROUGH THE TUTORIAL and make SURE TO REGISTER so you have and idea what we’re doing when in the Superlab Thursday and Friday. Here is the one I showed you Friday: http://prezi.com/78791/ Let me know if it does NOT work. Also, check back Monday to see what the final Group Project is. I will attach it here: Invertebrate Catalogue pre-AP Curls 2.
5. E-MAIL ME if you have any problems/questions or leave a comment.
Assignment for THURSDAY, MAY 21, 2009: Your mission, should you choose to accept it…is the following…search out and CAPTURE (on CAMERA) members of the LARGEST ANIMAL PHYLA–ARTHROPODA- which outnumber ALL OTHER members of the animal kingdom combined!!! Your reward for doing so will be POINTS, lots of points and possible rise to tribal leader.
MINIMUM requirements for this assignment are as follows:
1000 points for 1-4 (250 EACH):
1. 4 different CLASSES OR ORDERS of Arthropods (THERE ARE MANY, so pick FOUR to add to your pictures–google is your friend, UNLESS you have a book…). ***IF you find an organism that belongs to CLASS INSECTA, you MUST use the organism’s order i.e. a butterfly is an arthropod that belongs to the class insecta and order lepidoptera.
2. 10 TOTAL Arthropods WITH personal item for your group.
3. Pictures uploaded to ONE post WITH YOUR GROUP COLOR AND CLASS PERIOD categorized to period!!
4. Arthropods LABELED with WHAT they are (i.e. butterfly, roach, ladybug, etc.) and WHO TOOK the picture.
5. 500 bonus points for MOST correctly labeled arthropods (you are not limited to 10 but it is ONLY what is completed TODAY!!)
6. 500 bonus points for MOST correctly identified CLASSES/ORDERS (again, NOT limited to 4!)
DIVIDE AND CONQUER! TEAM EFFORT AND POINTS FOR WHAT IS DONE TODAY!!! DO NOT BE LOUD/INTRUSIVE/ETC IN THE HALLS! BEGIN WHEN YOU ARE READY!!
Assignment for Monday, May 18, 2009. You are to click on the following link Energy Transfer & Oh Deer Instructions 2009 for graphing your 2 labs from Thursday (GRAPH ALL FIVE FOOD CHAINS!) and Friday last week. (For Oh Deer, ONLY graph your classes results, not all four of my H Bio classes.) I am looking for posts of your work. When you upload this time, you can simply do your work in a MS Word document and choose to “upload media” instead of an image as you have done before. OR, you can just make a post like normal, copy and paste questions into it, etc. I expect that EACH PERSON in the group will have part of the assignment so EVERYONE is working and all tasks are complete. That being said, you can have UP TO 4 posts for this assignment, but in your title, INCLUDE YOUR GROUP COLOR AND PERIOD #!!!! If you have any questions, send me an e-mail b/c I can access that today, or make a comment on the blog. I’ll have that too. PLEASE be quiet in the media center and be on task b/c my husband will be taking snapshots of your screens randomly throughout the day. If you finish your assignment, start on the message below…
PS If you have ANY problems uploading, MAKE A HARD COPY OF THE GRAPHS AND QUESTIONS IN YOUR LAB NOTEBOOKS!!!
HONORS BIOLOGY STUDENTS!!! I have made some changes, so MAKE SURE TO READ THIS!!! You MUST categorize your posts to the appropriate period and DE-SELECT the “1″ category. You also MUST label your pictures with the TITLE of what exactly the picture is, a CAPTION of the item from the scavenger hunt list AND the credit it’s worth. Finally, the DESCRIPTION needs to include who took the picture and any further explanation of how your pictures match the item from the scavenger hunt list. An example has been provided for you. To get to your posts, select the FEEDS: POSTS icon at the top of this page. It should allow you to search for your exact posts more easily. You will see the last 50 posts(***having an issue showing more than 10 most recent, so just GO THROUGH YOUR DASHBOARD TO ACCESS POSTS…). To be able to edit, click the –> button beside your username to choose “GO TO full article” and you will have the option to edit as normal. ALSO look for Honors Biology Scavenger Hunt Examples in case you are confused about what to do. SEND ME A COMMENT if you have questions.

This page has the following sub pages.
You guys are OK. You were SUPPOSED to look at the blog site so you would know!!
Upload like a regular document into a post.
I KNOW it’s the beetles.
If you read the directions, it’s for the GROUP, so you need two graphs and the 8 answers to the questions for your entire GROUP!
I had faith!!
You MIGHT want to change it to “purple” instead of “pruple.”
Yes! Good job!
