Cell for President Project

Cell for President Project

For Chapter 4, you will be choosing a cell organelle to research.  You will become familiar with the structure, location, function, number, etc. about that organelle and determine what features would make it a worthy candidate for Cell President.  You will use scientific reasons why your organelle is important, but also feel free to be creative.  You will be presenting your reasoning in one of 3 ways:  a PowerPoint presentation, a commercial or a poster.  EACH way will involve the following:

1.        Presentation by you to the class.

2.       Minimum of 5 graphics

3.       Location of organelle (type of cell and WITHIN cell)

4.       Structure of organelle (shape, chemical make-up, parts, etc.)

5.       Function of organelle, ESPECIALLY in relation to other organelles.

6.       General number found in cell

7.       Any unique characteristics that make this organelle a shoe-in for president.

8.       Once all presentations have been made, THE CLASS WILL VOTE!!!  Winning organelles get extra credit!!

***THIS IS AN INDIVIDUAL project, BUT you may choose a “running mate.”  In that case, you will BOTH be given the same grade and will be presenting TWO organelles—for President and VP, but MUST share equal duty for 1-7 above.

****Completed projects will be due ____________________________________________________________________

NO LATE WORK WILL BE ACCEPTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You will be graded in the following manner:  KNOWLEDGE OF MATERIAL AND PRESENTATION
